The
Elkhorn Slough Foundation is launching a campaign to increase
community support for the protection and care of Elkhorn Slough,
and part of that effort is asking current members to "tell
a friend!" The Foundation
currently protects 3600 acres and supports education and research
efforts at the Elkhorn Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve.

ESF
Development Director Stephen Slade says ESF has 900 members, up
from 700 in May. The new campaign seeks to increase membership
in the nonprofit to 1000 members within a year. The Foundation's
protection of more than 3600 acres was largely paid for with major
funding from foundations and state bond measures. Members' contributions
cover the stewardship and educational work of the Foundation.
"As we look ahead," Slade says, "it is clear that
we need to expand our base of community support both to
care for the land we already protect and to complete our mission
to conserve Elkhorn Slough forever."
New Members
If you have not yet joined ESF, we hope you will do so today (click
here). If you contribute $50 or more
we will send you a copy of a
full-color 64-page book on Elkhorn Slough. If you contribute
$100 an invitation to an invitation-only opening reception for
the Coastal Wetlands art show at Nido Gallery in November.
Current Members
Current members can help by sending us the names and addresses
of those they think may be interested in helping protect one of
California's last great estuaries. Click here
to submit names. We'll send them a special introductory edition
of our quarterly newsletter, Tidal Exchange, and ask that
they join you in protecting the slough.
Or you could just email them a link to this page with a note.
Thanks for your help.
