December 28, 2005 – December denizens

It may be a while before the Photographer's Day Book (including the Photo of the Week) gets updated – the ESF photographer and webmaster, Greg Hofmann, is heading for his next gig running Skamokawa Center in Washington state. You should check the place out the next time you're on the north shore of the Columbia River. So, to tide you over, here's a generous sampling of the critters still in town during the Holiday Season, starting with a red-and-green-themed shot of a stilt.

This is the first time I've seen stilts resting with other birds.

More swooping shorebirds.

Here's an American Pipit.

Here's another look.

A Black Phoebe gives us a good pose.

A flotilla of Bufflehead cruises the harbor.

A Meadowlark looks jaunty in this composition.

And away...

...we go.
