November 10, 2005

On reflection, a flock of sandpipers is doubled.

Here's an aquatic roadway in the North Marsh that's getting a lot of traffic.

All the birds in Parson's Slough seemed to get the same idea – party on the long island!

Quite the hot spot.

The highlight here is the shadowed profile on the near wing.

OK, now for something a bit grisly. A week ago I found this dead mole on the Five Fingers Loop trail. The vultures seem to have overlooked it.

You've heard of making a mountain out of a mole hill? Well, the insects have made a mole hill out of a mole – this was the scene a week later.

We'll close on a happier note – another doubling, this time a row of resting stilts.
