May 25 , 2005 – lotta otters

A couple of days ago I spotted this otter playing with a big hunk of styrofoam in the lagoon north of Jetty Road. At the time, the otter was resting and using the foam as a sort of blanket. It played with the foam a bit, pushing it around on the water.

I came back two days later, and there was the otter playing with the foam...

...pushing it around....

...then swimming back under it.

Meanwhile out in the harbor, for the last several days a large raft of otters has been forming up near the jetty. It's nice to see them back in the slough in such numbers.
