April 30, 2005 – Spring Members Walk

If you missed the Spring Walk this year, you missed a good one. The assembled masses – about a hundred people – broke into groups, some to walk to the Brothers Knoll (as we did last year), others to hike a slightly more challenging trail to the knoll on Renteria. We all set out on the Brothers property.

This group is on its way to Renteria.

When we got to our knoll, we could look across to the other hikers on their knoll.

Back on our knoll, we enjoyed views of the slough...

...got good looks at Red-winged Blackbirds putting on a display...

...and checked the progress of the pond critters [as promised previously] that have made their homes in the old ag basin. This Chorus Frog tadpole is sprouting legs...

...while this one is well on its way to frog-hood.

We also got looks at such wonderful flora as this delicate Globe Lilly...

...this handsome Rattlesnake Grass...

...and this sweet little Coast Lotus (also called Witch's Teeth).

All good things must end, and here we are hiking back.

But we're not quite done – there are still free flowers to pick from the fields on Brothers. Do we take care of our members or what?
